Devastating fire destroys 40 cars in Indianapolis

Fortunately no one was hurt

Last night, a devastating fire that started right outside a parking lot in Indianapolis destroyed 40 cars that were due to be sold at auction. Fortunately, no one was hurt but the cars, as you can imagine, are all gone.

The lot in question belongs to Insurance Auto Auctions and is located at 3202 South Harding Street. Firefighters arrived at the scene at t 1:46 AM and the fire was under control by 3:26 AM.

None of the cars was particularly valuable as the lot mostly consisted of second-hand cars, which were going to be sold for parts. The list of vehicles that were burnt to a crisp includes a Kia Soul, a Jeep Renegade, a Chrysler 200, and a Mercedes E-Class.

The authorities are looking into it as the cause is still to be determined but numerous reports indicate that it may have been caused by a lightning strike.
