Dodge Hellcat Used In High Speed Police Chase
The cops used a little neat trick in their chase: Time
The 6.2 liter supercharged V-8 in the Dodge Hellcat produces an astounding 707 horsepower. That is an incredible amount of horsepower that's feared by many on the drag strip and by non FCA car brands, who have yet to produce something as powerful in a production car setting. When that car gets stolen and driven thru the long stretches of Texas highways, we found that the cops know better than to try and keep up with the Hellcat. They'll just use one of the tools in their arsenal: Time. The Hellcat is thirsty and it will run out of fuel.
Many parallels were probably drawn to the old 1970 classic 'Vanishing Point'. White Dodge Challenger, high speed chases, and long stretches of highways. But unlike the movies this high speed chase ended without the Hollywood ending. As the Hellcat's 707 horsepower supercharged V-8 laid useless without gas, the 25 year old car thief resorted to sheepishly running away on foot before savagely tackled to the ground.

Thank god it was in Texas - all straight lines and no corners. Car would’ve ended up in a tree otherwise. :-)
Couldn’t have said it better myself.....at least it wasn’t a mustang
I hate it when my Dodger won't asselerate.... They called it a Dodger twice. How are news reporters so stupid that they can't get the name of the car right?
Asselerate? Really? Talking about other people being stupid...
if you'd paid attention you would've caught it when the reporter said it. instead you made yourself look like a fool because it's a joke and you really clearly didn't get it. you're in the middle of this human centipede of hatred now, you...

As a German, i thought 100 MPH? Boring, wake me up at 150.
hell yeah. 100 mph is the cruise speed in Portugal also.
That certainly looked dodgy.
Boom, boom! ☺😂.
Yeah, uh, oh wait? I see what you did there.
If only we had car chases like that in Britain, the best we get is a golf being chased by a couple of police astras
Well the difference is, that in the US he is looking at 10 to 12 years, while in the UK, he will get his drivers license pulled for a FULL month, and a strong warning not to do it again.
No he gets jail time either bails out or spends some months in jail till court date. Gets probation for a minimum of 3years
