  • I expected the "baby" Charger to get trashed. It's like the Mustang II. The truth is there was no other way to keep the Charger line going in that time frame. I mean, look at the 4th Gen "Charger". Dodge needed that four year gap to make people forget that mess. The Charger was never a small car, and not all that far removed from the Coronet, but that's more Coronet than Charger.

    At least the Omni based Charger made an attempt at performance with the maniacal Shelby version. It even handled. Had Dodge leveraged it's Mitsubishi and the Eclipse connection a bit, it might have even had AWD.

    It took another 19 year gap to come up with the parts bin LX based 4 door Charger. That was based on a RWD converted LH FWD chassis.
