The American car brand known for V8-powered muscle cars is going electric, and we can expect to see the first one in 2024 after its concept debuts in 2022.
Dodge has explicitly said it "will not sell electric cars", but instead "will sell American e-Muscle" – whatever that means.
The aim with this move to electric power for Dodge is not to make an everyday EV, but to make a special muscle car that acts like a V8-powered one, but is in fact powered by a battery. The new Dodge EV will use one of Stellantis' dedicated electric vehicle platforms providing up to 500 miles of range.
Dodge hasn't said whether its new EV will be an electric version of the two-door Challenger or four-door Charger, but by looking at these photos, it looks like it may be a Charger with a classic twist judging by that front.
In fact, Dodge placed the Fratzog logo, which it used in the 1960s and '70s, on the car's grille, and Dodge says that using this is "a nod to the future, which will bring about another great automotive era – the era of the electrified muscle car."
We expect to hear more details about Dodge's first EV very soon as the concept is due next year.

Muscle can't be electrified. It's literally about the engine, performance is an afterthought. Aural theatre and visceral engagement is its main selling point. EVs have neither and if they do it's faked.
I’m not a muscle car fan tbh, but I think you’ve nailed it for any ICE car really. It’s the noise, the feel, the smell, the vibrations
Muscle literally means V8
Please don’t be a crossover SUV 🤡
2700hp, 3500lb/ft Charger. 0-60 in RIGHT NOW. 11's after releasing the line lock. Oh yeahhhh.
It's the perfect name for e-Muscle. Paint it ORANGE and you have my attention.
I guess for a few years they will offer two options - EV for those that want the fastest muscle car, ICE for those where the noise of the V8 is more important than the performance.
Muscle cars have literally never been about performance. They've been the least performing enthusiast cars for decades
They were about performance when they came out
E-MUSCLE ISNT A THING
