Don't hate me for this..
"OMG, I HAVE AN 86!!!! I'M THE NEXT TAKUMMIIII!!!"
Alright, so let's get this straight, over the years there have been a few notable Japanese cars that have become severely overrated by a community of several mentally disabled fanboys that seem to have to spend their day bowing their heads down to some rustbucket. Well anyways, let's get to reviewing each car are how the fanboys have impacted it's reputation in today's world. Also disclaimer, these are just my own opinions on cars and I'm not saying you can't have your own opinions, I do not intend to offend anyone or certain groups of people. I respect everyone's opinions about this stuff, but I wanted to share my own since I haven't done an article about this. Anyways, here's the rant:
Cardboard box death trap
Alright starting with the most obvious car, the stupid AE86 Sprinter/Corolla. Why do people even like this car? Sure it's become some stupid popular "drift" icon due to some tofu TV show made for 7 year olds, that doesn't mean you have to start fanboying over the 25 year Corolla. "BUt yOmi!!! YoU fAnBoY oVeR tHe 92 jUsT LiKe aN 86 fAnBoY!!!" True, but I don't fanboy it just because it's some stupid easy to modify, powersliding cardboard box. It's because it's my opinion its an actual cool car. People who like the 86 don't like the car, I've seen all the reddit fanboys lie about it and say "oooh, well it's actually a good drift car and handles well." No, please just stop this nonsense, these people only like the car just because it's in the TV show, not because its good or anything special. And, the result of all this fanboyism is pretty much the AE86 population almost going extinct due to the amount of people that tried to drift them and failed. Now, the people that actually thing the car is cool can't have them just because the fanboys decided they were disposable. If you suffer from this severe fanboyism, then my advice is to move on to actual cars that powerslide better than this thing. This car was reserved for grandpas in the first place, and now we have the fanboys going up to a group of innocent grandparents begging to buy their car. Take my advice and don't become part of this dangerous addiction. Just because some stupid teenage in a TV show drives the car doesn't mean you dedicate your entire life to get one. It's common sense really...
stupid rocketship overpriced turbo explody thing
The next car is obviously the Supra A80. Back when I was really young, this car wasn't given much attention at all compared to the ludicrously stupid amount it's given now. The A80 turbo Supra started at around $40,000 when it first came out, now, one sold for a stupid record breaking $176,000! Ok, to be fair it was mint condition and was a rare non-removable top model, but that's still over 4 TIMES the original price it was sold. And, we can all thank the stupid fanboys who think basically ruining the entire car is a fun idea..."bUT yOmI, iT hAs bIg bOi tUrBo aNd sO mUcH tUnInG pOtEnTiAl." Basically that's the only excuse people give in the car community for pay stupid prices for these dumb rust buckets. These A80 fanboy communities honestly need to be shut down for good. And no, I'm not saying people shouldn't like any of these cars I'm talking about, but chill out on literally having such big aspirations for them that as soon as one appears on the market, you use your insane reflexes to smash on the "place bid" button. It also really annoys me when some of these dumb fanboys literally put down me for liking the previous gen A70 "bEcAuSe iT dOesN't hAvE a 2 JAY ZEEEE!!!" These fanboys really need to shut up. Obviously the prices aren't going down anytime soon and will probably remain at this state...forever. Until then, I'm not impressed with how people in the car community handle this.
unreliable, overrated, bad gas mileage, toxic polluting fanboy mobile
Ok I have to admit, the FD is a good looking car. Everything about it was done right honestly. "OK yomi, why the heck are you adding it on the list then?" Well that's only because this thing truly is in the middle of the fight between the fanboys. Literally everyone obsesses about how great this thing is just because it's powered by the "dorito engine," honestly please stop referring to a rotary like that. But anyways, sure I can see people liking this car a lot because it looks cool, and is pretty cool, but it's reached the point of hypocrisy where there are stupid people basically doing the same old thing with the 86 and A80, basically bragging about how superior it is to everyone else's car just because it's powered by a rotary. And this, is the exact statement that tells me these people are actual idiots. "bUt yOmI!!! rOtaRy hAs mOrE pOwEr fOr tHe disPlAceMent aNd cAn ReV hIgHeR!!!" I agree with that, however, if this was all true, then why the heck aren't they using them in modern sports cars? Oh wait...I forgot, they never make it to the finish line because their apex seals fail. Ok yeah this is going too harsh, but I'd like these people to realize the actual disadvantages for a practical use before turning into a salty reddit fanboy and writing "hOw dArE yOu iNsUlt tHe mIgHtY dOriTo eNgiNe" Ok yeah we get it you're a fanboy, go read up actual facts before making an unproven opinion. It was definitely cool Mazda decided to become one of the last manufacturers to hold onto the rotary with their RX-8. I have no problem with people liking RX-7 or RX-8, but when people go out of their way to say it's sooooo much better than every engine in every single way, that's where it crosses the line. I believe this trend is why so many people become such huge FD fanboys as well, just because they see it uses a rotary, get them to think "oOOhhh sOOooo cOOool!! I dedicate my life to get one!!!" No please stop this complete nonsense, there's a reason they stopped making the RX-7, and it was a very valid reason.
Ok and another thing about your so called "drifting"
Ok I'm sick and tired of people who call holding a slide around a shallow corner a so called "drift." I know many of the drifter fanboys are gonna go out and make hate comments on this, but honestly think about it, you're holding a slide by using the throttle and countersteering at the same time. If you let off the throttle, you're going to stop sliding, or commit lift-off oversteer. If you're using the throttle to stay sliding, you're using power hence that's why it's actually called power sliding and not "drifting." Actually maintaining a drift using weight transfer or handbrake is an actual drift. That's mostly why I consider AWD and RWD sliding as not "drifting." The true drifts come from FWD (please fanboys don't throw hate). Probably the actual reason I hate RWD and AWD cars (with some exceptions) since people only care about the fact their able to powerslide them and that they have better acceleration than FWD. But as I stated in the beginning, this is an opinion and I respect those who have a counter argument.
"OoooOOoh, yOuR fRoNt-wHeEl dRiVe cAr sUckS cOmPaReD tO mY aLL-wHeeL dRivE mOnsTer"
Ok and last but not least, the Skyline R34 and R32s. Ok these are clearly overrated cars by no standpoint at all, fanboys of these cars have their literal eyes glued to various car auctions sites on their computer screen and have macros set up to automatically place bids at light speeds. That was an exaggeration, but still, these things are also shooting up in prices also due to the high network of fan bases it has created. People will literally smuggle these things illegally in the US without realizing they could be facing a lifetime in solitary confinement (not really lol). Sure, these things are fast, handle well for because of their advanced AWD system, and have become highly revered. But now again, just like with any other stupid fanboy overrated car, their becoming expensive now and people are basically sniping all the actual good ones now. The saddest thing is these people end up taking the good condition ones, and then putting on stupid performance parts which not only decrease the value, but make it more illegal (excluding the r32) and slower. Just because you managed to squish 1200bph doesn't mean you'll literally destroy everyone. Again, the types of people that end up buying these things and then destroying them are basically your average 7 year old Forza/Fortnite player who believes power = faster. Don't get me wrong, I do see the Skyline as an excellent AWD sports car that would interest many, but making them again at stupid prices just because you believe your entitled to basically ruining the entire car scene for everyone doesn't give you the right to fanboy about them which therefore increases the price. Honestly, I see it as a complete win if these things are banned in the US, it will probably keep us away from having a skyline shortage problem in the future (that isn't to say people import these things in other countries). If not everyone in the car community is happy with these stupid entitled people fanboying over the dumb car, then we should honestly just ban them all together.
Ok wait, where's the Eunos Roadster?
I do agree that thing is massively overrated, but I'm not adding it since the prices are still fairly reasonable (all though I might have to add it soon) and they aren't really that sought after for as much as some other cars I have mentioned.
So what's the point of your entire stupid rant?
What's the point? Isn't it obvious? Don't be sucked into the hell of the world of these fanboy cars, this entire fanboyism is like a disease, once someone thought the car was fast and cool to modify, everyone else did and it spread so rapidly it's becoming a widespread problem now. I know I'm going to receive tons of hate from the massive fanboys of the cars I mentioned (I respect your opinion), but honestly the reason this has become an issue for me is basically all the stupid hatred I get for liking the 92, I've seen people say the most idiotic things like "it's a crime it's FWD", or "Toyota ruined the car by making it FWD." Comments like this are mostly from uneducated reddit fanboys who live in a volcano, but honestly, kind of sad people just hate the car just because there are the "superior" fanboy cars out there that the majority happens to think are better. I don't see why people need to put down the car (especially for just being FWD). But anyways getting back on topic, I think people need to learn that these fanboy cars aren't the only "good" cars that have been produced and should start looking at other cool cars rather than wasting their time on youtube or reddit trying to defend the reliability of a so called "dorito" engine.
