Down On The Street, Eugene Edition: FWD Cadillac with E&G Classics Parts

Pimptastic burgundy Caddy parked in downtown Eugene.

This Cadillac Coupe DeVille, of unknown year but definitely 1985-92 generation, was parked along the East 11th Avenue and Willamette Street intersection, very close to Eugene Toy & Hobby, the Lane Community College downtown campus & public library, an excellent indie natural grocer/deli/bottle shop, and the Epic Seconds used music/game/movie store. While I wouldn't have passed this up even if it was a plain vanilla "downsizer" Caddy, due to Cash For Clunkers and depreciation decimating their numbers, the E&G Classics hubcaps, Continental Kit & grille and Euro-style headlights (along with the cabriolet-style vinyl top) really make this car. I've been trying to shoot this and a couple other E&G equipped Caddies (and a downsizer Fleetwood 75) for a while now, glad I got shots of this one.

Sadly, E&G Classics closed down after 49 years in 2020, due to various reasons including the Coronavirus recession and waning demand for their products.

  • I actually had one of those, in blue, but without the gold grille or the Continental kit. Had the fake convertible top, though. Ugly car, got terrible mileage, handled "like a bowling ball on a waterbed" (to quote Jay Leno), but man was it comfortable.
