Developed in 1978 for the massively fast straights of Le Mans, the uber-aero 935 ‘Moby Dick’ eschewed air cooling and upped displacement, making a rather intimidating 630 kW (845 PS) from its 3.2-litre flat-six. Due to mechanical gremlins early on in the race, it would ultimately finish up eighth. But due to its immense speed on the straights and the fact that it was faster than the prototypes in practice, the Moby Dick went on to become something of an icon.
