This is just the beginning!
Welcome friends and thank you for your continued support, views, and subscriptions, but we have only just begun! I certainly am always looking for sponsors, so please contact me if you feel that we would be a good fit!
My Story With DriveTribe:
Background: I started this game (working for DriveTribe) coming in with a Master's degree in professional communications and years of experience singing and speaking in front of large crowds/audiences. I had worked with celebrities and heads of corporations throughout my professional career, had traveled the world, and started my own entertainment corporation. For me, the best feeling was making people smile. I felt perpetual energy from laughter, contagious smiles, and applause that had me wanting to create more.
My Travels: My travels had taken me to the storybook lands of the USSR to trekking the Carpathian mountains in Transylvania, diving with bull sharks off of the Bat islands of Costa Rica, racing formula cars in Georgia USA, Rock climbing in New England, participating in marksman competitions in Florida, cruising across the Atlantic from the UK to Miami, night diving the lagoons of Bora Bora and the islands of French Polynesia, meeting up with groups of friends in Japan to learn about the Star Wars Japanese subculture and much much more.
The Opportunity: When I read about the opportunity to become an ambassador for DriveTribe I had a very different idea for the role than what was being offered. DriveTribe was a community for automotive enthusiasts, journalists, and creators to network, socialize and share their stories. As a brand, however, there was no representation. Granted, it was the trio's (Clarkson, Hammond & May) pet project, however, the clay wasn't molded and there was room for opportunities. I immediately started networking with the community manager (Ben Koenig) and booked my flight to London to meet up with the crew and introduce myself.
My Designed Role: Not long after the visit and conversations with the team, I was out traveling the world again but this time branding DriveTribe as a Brand Ambassador with high-end embroidered clothing that I had designed and developed with approval and backing from DT HQ. My idea of being the face for DriveTribe had come to fruition and I was traveling all the major circuits from SEMA to Concours D' Elegance events and more. I also started incorporating my adventures into the mix, adding travel, luxury lifestyle, and celebrity interviews.
The first ventures: The first big trip was Monterey Car Week 2018 and it looked something like this... We covered 6 car shows, landed 22 interviews, I asked George Lucas for an interview but he respectfully declined. We filmed my review of the new Ariel Nomad. This first event was a collaboration with Royce Rumsey, Ashe Cole, Ashe's brother, Pat and Ben Koenig. Things went off without a hitch, I stitched everything together and Ben was a tremendous help with promoting the works. We even received kudos from the big man at HQ, Tim Rodie, stating that it was "one of the most EPIC pieces of work I've seen on DriveTribe"!
Perpetual Energy: There was that perpetual energy, these comments, the collaboration, promotions all fed the fire to go bigger and better. Although Ben had been helping me with post-production on video, I eventually picked it up as everyone had their own projects to attend to.
Other Events: As more opportunities came about, I started covering everything from trips to Hollywood and Napa to Yacht Shows. Wine, cigars, and rooftop bars were all very entertaining when I wasn't in the hot pits at the track or interviewing race car drivers. My first and only team interview at my first Rolex 24 hours of Daytona was with the winning race team before they even started the race!
Monterey car week 2019: The following year at Monterey I was running solo but the coverage was just as EPIC! See the link below for a summary article!
2020 Pandemic
When 2020 came around things kept getting busier and busier, starting with the Rolex 24 of Daytona. Then in February, I headed to the UK where I boarded the first cruise ship built for Virgin Voyages to embark on its first test cruise, a transatlantic trip to Miami. I was the first person to broadcast a show from the ship (the scarlet lady) as I interviewed captain Carl Robbins from the first tattoo parlor at sea (Squid Ink). We were in the middle of the Atlantic when we first heard of the Covid-19 Pandemic that was rocking the world (I know, lots of firsts, lol).
Upon our return, the world had come to a dead halt. People were losing jobs, stocks were dropping and everyone was on lockdown. We managed to use this opportunity to take a one-month bucket list trip across the country to some of the most exotic and luxurious locations in the USA starting in Miami driving up and across to Napa, down the coast to Coronado, and back to Florida. This coverage was too much to contain in one article so I started posting live from each location and finished with an idea for a trilogy.
The Trailer
Too Much Migz?!
After completing the herculean task of post-production I had a final product cut down to 2 hours and 17 minutes. There were 75 chapters of short highlight clips of 2019 with a narration pulling them all together. Upon contacting the person in charge of promotions for DT I was told that my movie was too long and that the campaigning article could not be promoted to the homepage where many of my other EPIC articles had been showcased. This certainly was frustrating and things at DT started to feel a bit different. See the article below.
DriveTribe The Concept
The impact that the pandemic had on the world rippled through DriveTribe. I saw many key people leave in 2020, those who were focused on the community which was the core concept of DriveTribe. Some journalists left, never to be heard from again, while new up-and-coming enthusiasts sprouted and then dominated the headlines. DriveTribe provided an opportunity for new creators to create and become discovered. It provided a platform for established journalists to network with a niche community. Although sometimes seeming to miss a lack of direction, DriveTribe was innovative and provided many opportunities for those who dared to take them.
Thank You
