DriveTribe's Favourite F1 Moments 2020
There were so many to choose from, did we pick your favourite moment?
Alex Albon becomes Red Bull's Reserve Driver.
To say that the 2020 Formula 1 season was quite something is an understatement. I think that for the most part, there was something there for every F1 fan and gave us a preview of some of the excitement we can expect both next year and when the new regulations kick in come 2022. With 17 races packed tightly together and three triple header weekends, we got a lot more racing this year than we might have expected back in March. But now that the season is done and dusted, what were the highlights for those of us here on Drive Tribe? Well I asked a few people from the F1 community here (including myself) and this is what we came up with...
For me, Perez getting his first win was awesome, especially with everything he's had to deal with this year - although the Sakhir Grand Prix still rubs me the wrong way because of George missing out). Gasly winning in Monza was also a highlight but I've also got to say a personal highlight was Hamilton breaking records left right and centre and equalling Michael Schumacher on World Championships - at the very least, it's impressive.
Thiemo is probably expecting it be Vettel's last lap podium in Turkey - and it almost is! But this one really got me jumping and shouting - the last lap of the Austrian Grand Prix. Hamilton had a five second penalty and Lando Norris was 6 seconds behind in P4. But he SENT IT! #LastLapLando was born and he set the fastest lap to take the podium away by less than two tenths! I remember screaming LANDOOO PODIUUUMMMMM when I saw the timing graphic. What a podium celebration too, and it was great to see such intense racing after over half a year without any. So yeah, GG to him and that was a standout moment.
1. Lando getting his first podium.
2. Ricciardo getting his first podium with Renault.
3. Hulk going third fastest in quali!

Pierre Gasly winning the Italian Grand Prix. If this didn't put a smile on your face then I don't know what will. Nearly a year after all the humiliation he faced, Gasly shows his mettle and didn't crack under the pressure to win at Monza. And the rest of the podium was great as well. Gasly winning is the ultimate fairy-tale come true and I am sure the Frenchman will remember this win for years to come.

I would have to say my favourite moments were either Daniel's podium in Germany and Checo's maiden win.
My favourite moment of the 2020 F1 season is actually two different moments that are kinda similar but meant very different things to each driver. Those moments are Pierre Gasly winning in Monza and Sergio Perez winning the second race in Bahrain. It was the first win for both drivers and it was a win that meant a lot to both of them. For Gasly, it was the final stage of his redemption as a driver after being kicked out of Red Bull and being written off as just not being good enough. For Perez, it was a win that he might never experience again because of his F1 career really hanging in the balance right now. They were both wonderful, emotional moments that showed how brilliant sports can be at telling stories.
Eight rounds of the all female racing series will take place next year.
Girl in the Pitlane:
Favourite moments of the season:
1) Has to be Hamilton winning his 7th title.
2) George Russell showing his obvious talent at the Sakhir GP and
(3) the old school tracks visited that gave us some fabulous racing - Mugello possibly topping the list for the craziness of the race
I think it either has to be Norris' podium in Austria with that fantastic last lap and Monza with that podium line-up!
Robert Shwartzman will stay with PREMA for 2021 it has also been confirmed.
