DRIVING_ROADS: NO. 2
A537 'Cat and Fiddle Pass'
Macclesfield to Buxton
Peak District, England
Distance: 10 Miles
Road surface quality: 8/10
Rating: 5/10
Sticking with the UK, we've headed north to a stretch of tarmac laid upon on of Englands most beautiful landscapes, the Peak District. Here you have a true blend of what you want from a driving road. A smooth surface and again a road that is unlikely to catch you out in a hurry this is once again a road you can really enjoy. And with the views the Peak District has to offer it makes it that bit more spectacular.
However, there is one massive, massive problem. It comes with the three words no petrolhead wants to hear. Average speed cameras. Understandably (and sadly), this down to the road being one of the country's most dangerous. Unsurprisingly when you see the near constant flow of traffic from Manchester, Huddersfield and Sheffield passing by. Don't get me wrong, it is still a great road. But when you have to keep a cautious eye on your speedo constantly, you lose site of the drive.
