Firstly, just to be clear about the result of when Clarkson, Hammond and May chose the best driving road in the world the first time round, it wasn't the Stelvio Pass. But it was still up there. Located just over the border from Switzerland, this has to be one of roads with the best view at it's summit of over 9000ft. Once taken pictures and you've drinked in the stunning scenery, its then time to head down and, oh my, are you in for a ride...
On certain you roads you have to keep an eye on things in particular. The odd rough bit of tarmac, road narrowings, walls, cyclists (as always) and of course other cars but with the Stelvio you have all of that to deal with all at once! With such tight hairpins, you find nearly everyone fighting to swing out just so they can make it round. And between bends you have to watch your speed and indeed brakes very carefully all while you have massive drops to ignore. But, and it's a big but this time, no other road will ever give you such an adrenaline pump. It's hard, unforgiving and excitingly rewarding. And because of that, you have to do it.
