The contenders for this category are...

Since time immemorial, midsize saloon cars have been the heart of luxury car manufacturers. They are quite simply one of the most elegant and refined ways to show off your success to the world. And now, it's your turn to choose the best one of the lot. The nominees are:

Audi A6

There was a time when the Audi A6 used to be the undisputed king of the hill, right up until the time when Audi India didn't release enough updates, which pushed it to the backseat. Now, however, nearly a year after it's global launch the new A6 has arrived on our shores. And some of you might point out that for the price you pay, neither is it striking to look at nor does it have a bonkers engine. But it does have a 2.0 TFSI Petrol engine producing 245 hp, which needless to say, is more than adequate for our (*cough cough*)wonderful roads. But the party piece of this car is the tech. There's enough of it to shame its rivals with ease. For that reason, it finds a spot in our poll.

Prices for the Audi A6 start at Rs. 54.2 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom price).

Mercedes Benz E-Class

The second contender on our poll is the E-Class, a car so popular that it cemented Mercedes' reputation for luxury when it was launched for the first time in our market. And even though it may fall short on the tech front as compared to the Audi, it makes up for it in the engine department, with the wide variety of options to choose from, including a 3.0 V6 Diesel. Add to that the immense luxury on offer, it's really easy to see why this one is on our poll.

Prices for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class start at Rs. 57.5 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom price).

BMW 5-Series

Is this the best looking BMW on sale?

Is this the best looking BMW on sale?

This is the next contender on our poll. And even though this might've been in our market for a lot longer than the Audi, we can straight away tell that it is the best looking car of the lot. This is the only one of the three cars which I imagine would be good for driving and being driven in. And even though this car might be low on features, it is by no means poorly equipped. Couple that with those gorgeous looks and the traditional RWD layout, and the enthusiast in you is definitely in for a treat. And for that reason, this car also makes it to our poll.

Prices for the BMW 5-Series start at Rs.59.3 lakhs (Ex-Showroom price).

BMW 6-Series

This is the final contender on the poll. Now, this is a tricky one, because while it offers all the advantages of the 5-Series, it isn't a particularly good looking thing. But if for some reason, you find the 530 litre boot space of the 5-Series to be insufficient, then this car is a good alternative. Add to that the fact that it's got frameless windows on all the doors and an active rear spoiler, and you end up with a car that is perfect for the inner nine-year-old.

Prices for the BMW 6-Series start at Rs.64.4 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom price)

Note: Some of you might now be furiously heading towards the comments section questioning the inclusion of the Jaguar XF. The reason it isn't listed here is that there were no significant upgrades/facelifts for the car in 2019.

  • The BMW 5 Series is truly the best all rounder. Not too stiff and not too loose. Just the right amount of comfort and handling. And of course even their diesel engines have a lotta power.
