EA Acquiring Codemasters is Great For Racing Game Fans
EA is expanding their racing game portfolio and is great for racing games.
A deal has been in the works for a few months now with EA purchasing Codemasters and it has officially been done. I think this is a brilliant move and will help many of the game franchises involved and here's why.
It Helps Need For Speed
EA has struggled with their best-selling racer for a while now drawing criticism from many fans and critics alike for various things from the story mode being bad or more prominently the handling model. It also turns out that EA had a hard time keeping people long term to work at Ghost games partially leading to their rename and reassignment in EA. Some of these positions are still vacant at Criterion too. With Codemasters coming into the fold, they can help remedy these empty spots that they still haven't filled in at Criterion. Also, Codemasters can help fix the handling issue that Criterion and Ghost have struggled with the last decade (especially for the off-road handling) On top of that, this move could potentially bring out yearly NFS releases as opposed to every-other-year or what I hope happens, keep the every-other-year cycle with a massive one-year update in-between games.
How Does This Help Games Like F1, Grid, Dirt, etc.?
Remember when I was saying earlier that Ghost was reassigned? Well, they were reassigned to work on improving the Frostbite engine which has always been known to be one of the best game engines graphically. While the graphics on Codemaster's games aren't bad, I have seen better. This could help add more depth and make a more immersive experience to the sim racers which isn't a bad thing. Outside of that, I don't really know what else would help because I don't play many sim racing games.
What do you think of this deal? Let me know in the comments. Also don't forget to bump this article and follow me for more content like this.

The only half decent game EA have been involved with in the last few years is NFS Heat, possibly Project Cars 3. Personally games like Grid, Dirt 5 etc.. were pretty horrific.
Well Grid and Dirt 5 were solely Codemasters, not EA. I personally think Grid was OK but not horrific. It was better than Autosport. Now I can’t speak for Dirt 5 as I have yet to play it but from everything I’ve seen, it looks more like Dirt 2 and 3...

It's EA.
EA, in the sports genre, has not been anywhere close to great since the early 2010's, and even that's debatable. They became focused solely on the profit, and not about the quality of their products. I still play NCAA Football 14 and NASCAR Thunder '04, but that is about it. Unless they do a full revamp of their business strategy, they have doomed the entire franchise, along with others (WRC [when they got the licensing], BTCC, Dirt, etc)
To each their own but I disagree. Yes their sports games aren’t great. I’ve never liked FIFA and Madden is just the same game every year. Their best was Sports title was NCAA Football but that was stopped dead in its tracks thanks to the NCAA and...
