Not too long ago, I wrote an article on 3 Wheel EVs. Today, I found out that one of those 3 wheel EVs is turning popular - very popular. So popular that, Electra Meccanica from Canada got a manufacturing agreement with Zhongshen Industrial group in China its orders for the SOLO boomed.

Same amount of Storage as a small hatch!

So what is the SOLO. Well it is a one seater, 3 wheel EV which will do 82 mph from 82 Horsepower engine. It has a range of 100 miles which is okay - the average person commutes 33 miles on a daily basis. And the batteries can be charged from your 110 volt (US) home powerpoint and in a 220 volt powerpoint it can charge in 3 hours. It also has a quick charge connector. You get all the things one gets in any other car - bluetooth stereo, reversing camera, heated windshield, windscreen wipers, air conditioning and on and on. the best part is its storage 285 litres of storage space i.e similar amount of space one will find in a Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris and other small hatchbacks. All in the price of USD 15,500.

they made the car on one statistic...

Which is what I find great because Electra Meccanica has received 23,030 orders for it. When they deliver the cars they are looking at a net sales of 357 Million USD - brilliant number for just a single seater car. What this shows is that little one seater EV is just brilliant. I might actually want one. Apart from all this they built this car on one statistic - Daily, a 109 million North American’s commute alone.

  • It looks quite good too, for something that has an incorrect number of wheels.

    I like it.

  • So are you saying that you have to pay $15000 in order to drive this car?

  • Brilliant. Bring it on. Love this idea. For the daily commute where the road is long but not wide, this is where i want to be. But, how about a two seater side by side! Call it the Duo. 👍👍
