Electric motocross video: All the action, none of the engine roar
With fossil fuels becoming rarer and rarer, petrol costs rapidly rising and the planet boiling to death, the time has come to do something about our excessive use of internal combustion engines. Although battery powered motors may not be the final and most eco-friendly mode of transport, it’s a start, which is why this new form of motocross is so good.
Yes, international, multibillion-dollar thrill seeking company Red Bull has an impressive all-electric motocross bike. The result of the bike is a very calming version of the typically chaotic sport of Freestyle.
The soothing effect of the video comes from the bike’s lack of an engine blasting a mosquito-esque sound. That’s amplified by how Red Bull’s videographers decided not to add a set of slow-motion sequences and overlay it all with some punk track from the early 2000s. This video comes from a series called Red Bull’s RAW 100, which has been created to show extreme sports in their purest form.
Although the lack of engine roar does seem to give off a zen-like atmosphere, I would have to disagree with the bike’s manufacturer, Alta Redshift, that the video is “on the cusp of ASMR.”
To those that spend their time attending motocross events, the silence of it all may be somewhat uncomfortable. However, to those that find the whole idea of jumping around on a motorcycle a bit basic, this new sense of calm may be enough to get them interested in the sport.
