Elon Musk overtakes Bill Gates to become world's second-richest person
Tesla has done him wonders, hasn't it!
Elon Musk has just become the world's second-richest person by overtaking Bill Gates to gain the spot. This comes just after a week since he passed Mark Zuckerburg at the number three spot.
This rise in wealth has come due to Tesla shares surging yet again. They have risen by $7.2bn (£5.4bn) to reach an all time high of £127.9bn. Not only this, but the stock has grown by more than $100bn this year alone which is pretty impressive considering the year we've had.
Just to put that into perspective, Musk was the 35th richest person in the world in January and is now second just behind Amazon boss, Jeff Bezos.
Tesla has the highest market value of any car company, and this comes as no surprise when you find out they shift around 500,000 units a year which for a 'new' company is pretty insane.
Tesla is constantly expanding, and so is its stock by the looks of things. But as well as this, Musk is involved in SpaceX, which just last week sent four astronauts into space with more launches on the way. Including, 60 broadband internet satellites.
