Elton John's Ferrari Daytona is headed for Auction
There were 1,300 examples produced and only 158 in Right hand drive making this a very special car
The time has come again for Elton John to sell yet another Ferrari. If you are unfamiliar with who he is then I'll give you a bit of history on him. Elton John is an English singer who has made 30 albums since 1967. Elton John is the eighth-highest-certified music artist in the US (77 million album certifications). Some of his best hits include Rocket Man, Your Song, Tiny Dancer and many more. He had also done a collab with Eminem called Stan which you may of heard before
So now onto the car it's self. Elton John has got a collection of exotic and rare cars over the years, from Jaguars and Aston Martins, to Bentleys and Rolls-Royces so selling this car isn't going to be much trouble for him as he has so many other cars still in his garage. Elton John has a passion for British cars, but when his seventh studio album The Yellow Brick Road topped the charts in 1973, he bought a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona – and now it’s heading to auction.
The Daytona itself only has 81,675 miles on the clock and is estimated to sell for around $700,000 (£542,000) when it goes under the hammer at the Silverstone Classic Motoring Festival at the end of this month (July).
Now I am going to give a bit of history about the car itself. At the time Elton bought the Daytona it was considered the worlds fastest car. Only 1,300 example were made between the years 1968 - 1973 and just 158 of those were made in RHD which makes the car worth even more than it already is. The fact it's owned by a famous singer will probably increase the price even more. It’s also finished in the same Rosso Chiaro paint job with a black interior as when Elton John took delivery of the supercar in 1973.
