So Uber have hit a bit of a road block, you see even though we get cheap, fast, and reliable transport, taxi drivers aren't too happy with this new system. So, a traditional taxi driver’s association in Spain sued Uber, saying their services create unfair competition and mislead practices. On Wednesday, the European Court of Justice ruled against Uber.
This may be the first you are hearing of any such issue but in-fact many European countries already consider Uber a transportation system and make them follow local transportation rules. But now that the EU has taken a side, it will be more difficult for Uber to keep the argument going.
Bloomberg reports that the EU has decided that Uber should be classified as a transportation service, basically it will have to follow the same rules and regulations that taxi services follow. Uber argued that it’s little more than an app that connects people who need to get somewhere with drivers who can take them, but the court disagreed. As a result, Uber will not be classified as an online service like they wanted.
