Euro NASCAR: Deodhar wins Elite Club and scores points in Elite 2 at Hockenheim

Advait Deodhar returned to Euro NASCAR Round 5 at Hockenheim in Germany on a winning note in the Elite Club category where he managed to extended his points lead to 24 with just the one round remaining at Zolder.

The Indian drove #27 BVR Motorsport's Ford Mustang for the time trial event where he took his second win after missing out in the last round over #2 Alex Caffi Motorsport Toyota Camry of Andreas Kuchelbacher and #31 Race Art Technology Chevrolet Camaro of Giovanni Trione.

"We had a lot of pressure because we lost in Italy by the closest margin and we needed a win over here," said Deodhar. "It was not easy because we had to be really fast and push to go close to the ideal time. I’m happy to win here and extend my championship lead."

Elite 2

In the Elite 2 class, Deodhar started the weekend finishing 19th and 17th overall and the seventh best rookie in his second outing in the #99 Dexwet DF1 Racing Chevrolet Camaro. The qualifying saw the Mumbaikar finish 16th overall and ninth best rookie.

The race didn't pan out to be as expected as Deodhar found himself in the lower half of the standings due to throtte problem and a spark plug issue. The team hoped that the problem will solve during the race but it wasn't to be.

Deodhar finished 24th nevertheless and was the ninth best rookie. The second race on Sunday, however, was a fighting one for the Indian as he started from 13th and was running 10th by Lap 6 of 17.

He was in some constant battles which went back and forth registering solid times in the midfield to eventually finish in the same position he started in 13th overall while ranked as the fifth best rookie.

After only his second weekend in the Elite 2 category, Deodhar sits 27th with 111 points as he now gears up for the season finale at Circuit Zolder in Netherlands during the October 20-21 weekend.
