Everything You Need To Know About The Hellcat Durango
I got to see the Durango Hellcat in the flesh and learn a little bit about it.
For the 2021 model line-up, the Durango has been given the Hellcat treatment like other models under the Dodge nameplate. The gentleman there told me everything I needed to know about the new Durango, or as he called it, "the 3-row charger." Well, that and because it is also given styling cues from the Charger widebody design.
Specifications
As far as wanting to put a Hellcat motor in a Durango, it was in part of actually just doing it just because the idea was there. Now the 6.2L supercharged V8 under the hood boasts 710 horsepower and 645 pounds of torque that is sent to all 4 wheels with the 8-speed automatic transmission. The Durango's wheels are 20x10 with a 295 width size. The front fascia was given a new chin splitter, rear spoiler, same hood characteristics as the Red-Eye and Hellcat, and an SRT grille that together creates 150 pounds of downforce. On top of that, the Durango has 8 driver modes. Sure, that doesn't seem like much but after everything adds up the Durango can go from 0-60 in a finger-snap fast 3.5 seconds and a crazy 11.5-second quarter-mile time. It is now the fastest SUV on the market. The interior is driver-centric with loads of tech and is Alexa compatible. Another thing is that there is a forged carbon fiber option for the trim. All of this starts around $79,595.
