Extreme E Interview - Catie Munnings and Timmy Hansen

I chatted with the Andretti United drivers about Extreme E, their motorsport careers so far and the best way to make a pizza.

Catie Munnings is a British rally driver who started competing from a young age. In 2016 (when she was 18 years old), she won the European Rally Championship Ladies trophy and in 2020, she made her debut in the World Rally Championship.

Hansen meanwhile, began his motorsport career in karting and circuit racing before switching his focus to rallycross from 2012 onwards. After finishing third overall in the 2013 European Rallycross Championship, he made the step up to the FIA World Rallycross Championship in 2014, taking his maiden win in Italy before finishing fourth overall in the standings. More wins came for the Swede in the following years before finishing sixth in the 2018 championship. In 2019, he managed four wins, clinching the Drivers and Teams title, alongside his brother and team mate, Kevin Hansen.

Together, Catie and Timmy are going to be racing for Andretti United in the first season of Extreme E this year, with the pair already getting off to a blistering start by finishing in second place at the first X Prix of the season last weekend in Saudi Arabia, beating Lewis Hamilton's X44 team in the process.

I caught up with them both just before the start of the Extreme E season. I hope you enjoy our conversation.

Thanks again to Catie, Timmy and Andretti United.

  • Catie and Tim seem to be taking the proper approach of enjoying themselves in the serious business of motorsport - looks like a good pairing and, based on their first XE exploits, I think they could do well across the series. Another good interview, can't wait to see what you come up with next..
