F1 concepts: What if Grand Prix teams had to base their cars on super-minis?
What if the Grand Prix teams had to use their smallest road models?
Formula 1 kicks off again this weekend after a long, cold winter with no racing.
Come Sunday, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstsappen and the rest will be revving their engines and raring to deploy the hundreds of horsepower at their disposal.
But what if their teams - the likes of Ferrari, Mercedes and Aston Martin Red Bull - had to base their F1 car on the smallest and cheapest model from their road car ranges?
Carbuyer decided to find out, and created these bonkers designs, complete with full F1 liveries.
Mercedes
Do you think Hamilton and Bottas would be happy swapping their W09 for the Smart car?
Red Bull
Granted, Red Bull don't actually have a road car range, but their parters and title sponsors Aston Martin did - the Cygnet city car
Alfa Romeo Sauber
This Alfa Romeo MiTo car might actually be quicker than the Sauber F1 challenger this year...
Toro Rosso Honda
The Toro Rosso Honda S660 actually looks like a proper racing car
Ferrari
Granted, this is a Fiat 500, rather than a Ferrari, but is still looks awesome
