F3 News: Smolyar Retained at ART

It will be his second season with the team.

“This is one of the best teams in the championship, so we have a chance for some good results"

Alex Smolyar

Alex Smolyar has been retained for another season with ART Grand Prix in the FIA Formula 3 Championship after he made his debut with the French team last year.

Smolyar had a decent first season with ART in Formula 3, with ten top 10 finishes and one pole position to his name. The Russian driver will be hoping to build on that in his second season and challenge for podiums and wins.

His best result in 2020 was a third place finish at the Monza Sprint race. Smolyar finished the season in eleventh place overall with fifty nine points.

The SMP-backed racer made the step-up to single-seaters at the age of 16 and went on to finish second in Spanish Formula 4 and third in F4 Northern Europe. The 19-year-old then went on to take third in Formula Renault Eurocup in 2019 before moving into Formula 3.
