Fail of the week: one seriously botched burnout
Those of you with any degree of mechanical sympathy best look away now...
This is an old one, but a good one – and if you've never watched this catastrophic attempt at a burnout then you're in for a treat.
In this video, shot by YouTuber mk1kieran at the UK car show 'Wheels Day' in 2013, a Mustang driver decides that they want to show off a little. A weak burnout ensues, but the driver's not satisfied and takes another shot at it. The decision proves, without a doubt, to be one they would later regret.
The second time around, as the revs rise, the driver's seemingly unaware that what's being merrily toasted isn't the Mustang's tyres – but its clutch. With its friction plates exhausted, and instead of just shutting it off, they limp away with the engine bouncing off its limiter.
Unfortunately, for the owner, the embarrassment doesn't end there. As the Mustang crawls down the road, something in its powertrain quite rightly decides it's had enough – and explosively disassembles itself, scattering shrapnel all over the road and immobilising the car in full view of the crowd.
It's not quite clear which component decides to punch its own ticket – flywheel, friction disc, pressure plate, or perhaps even something in the engine – but we're pretty sure that this driver won't be rushing to attempt another burnout like that again.

Lol... he should save his pennies and buy a real car..
SHOTS FIRED!
Pretty sure traction control engages ABS to manage wheel spin right? I don't care what kind of car it is, if it has a little getup in it's go, stomping the accelerator to the floor, holding it there and having traction control engaged...is going to end in a similar fashion.
....What a shame.
Complete idiot letting the car just bounce off the rev limiter
Certainly makes a change from every other car show + camera phone + Mustang; which inevitably results in a crash.
I missed the burnout anyone else lol
