The cover photo of this article may look familiar to those who have read my Savannah/Charleston road trip, and you would be right. But, how could I know someone who can draw such an amazing piece? His name is Julio Almodovar. Let me tell you how we met.
"...a friend of..."
Julio is a friend of mine's boyfriend who drew this piece above as a gift since she is a petrolhead. I saw this piece when she shared it on her social media accounts and I immediately thought to myself that I would love to get my BMW immortalized with his art style. So, I messaged him and asked if he could draw my car and he happily agreed. Now, I just had to find the right picture, or take one. And I did when in Charleston, SC. The original and drawn photos are below.

Now, to get the right angles and whatnot of the car, I sent Julio a few photos taken in the time I have had the BMW, but more recent than most. The backdrop of the photo is the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge and Charleston with my camera facing south. The spot is right around where the U.S.S. Yorktown is if you like this kind of photo near some buildings. As for the drawing, it came out beautifully. Photos do not do it much justice. The piece is done on a poster board and drawn in a special sort of marker. It took him a good amount of time to finish the drawing since he's a bit of a perfectionist. He told me his drawing of my BMW is his best work so far.
About The Artist
"...a little biography..."
I asked Julio to give me a little biography about himself and he happily replied. "My name is Julio Almodovar, I'm 30 years old. I am a graphic designer. I'm an auto body technician by trade, graduating from Pennco Tech. I love drawing cars from classics to Imports to trucks. All work is done free-hand with Prismacolor markers. I've been drawing all my life since I was young. My favorite thing to do is concept designs for builds. Living in Jersey."

I'd have to see if I can still find a picture of my greatest car... My current car is a company car and, while I do like it, it's not near the "put it on a canvas and hang it on my wall" territory ;-)
