Following on from the 365 GTB/4 Berlinetta Boxer, the 512 Berlinetta Boxer (BB) was produced from 1976 until 1984. The 512BBi was the final car in production from the BB family, with the ‘i’ standing for ‘injection’, the Bosch fuel injected 5 litre, 12 cylinder engine was the culmination of what Ferrari had learnt from the previous models in the BB family. This engine was focused on emissions, as far as any 1980’s Ferrari could be but did not compromise performance with the car having an acclaimed top speed of 188 mph. Over the lifespan of the 512 Berlinetta boxer less than 2000 cars were produced, this includes both the BB and BBi. When production stopped for the BBi in 1984 so did the long standing tradition of Ferrari’s being built entirely by hand but serves a great reminder of an exciting era in the history of Ferrari when Enzo relaxed his grip on the brand and allowed something a little different than a front engine V12 to be produced…and it certainly worked!Finished in Rosso Corsa with a Sabbia interior and having been supplied by Maranello Concessionaires in January 1984, this example has covered only 21,000 miles and is one of just 42 UK supplied RHD cars and has been with the same owner since 1994. It has had a recent major service and will be supplied to the new owner complete with its original book pack, service book and a file of paperwork which includes the majority of its previous MOT certificates.
