Ferrari CEO says High End EV Won't Be Out Until 2025
Ferrari's Tesla Competitor won't hit the market until 2025, 5 years after the Roadster.
Ferrari's CEO Louis Camilleri said at the Maranello Factory that "The battery technology is not where it should be yet... There are still significant issues in terms of autonomy, in terms of speed of recharging. So eventually we will come out with one. But it's post-2025. Not in the short term."
This means that Tesla will have a massive head start in terms of sales for the Roadster. However, Tesla doesn't carry the name that Ferrari does, so I doubt their buyers have much of an overlap. But, many companies may have electric sports cars before 2025, so I have to wonder whether the Ferrari will have more benefits than the others, but I guess we will have to wait and see.
Ferrari recently unveiled their first hybrid in their lineup, the SF90 Stradale. Ferrari has plans to introduce many more hybrids, as they aim to have 60% of their sales to be hybrids by 2020.
