Well it was bound to happen at some point. It all boiled over today at Interlagos as the Ferrari drivers made contact and both retired. Naturally people will be quick to judge. I have already spotted #Vettelout a couple of times on Facebook and Instagram. Fans are obviously not happy with Ferrari either.
Some reactions from youtube
The two Ferrari drivers ended up together after the first safety car period. Albon overtook Vettel at the restart and then it was on between the two drivers as Albon was slightly gaining on Hamilton. Leclerc divebombed Vettel into turn 1 but Vettel retook the position down the back straight. As we so often see drivers do, Vettel tried to push his opponent as far away from the racing line going into the corner. But it didn't turn out well.
Leclerc overtakes Vettel into turn 1
With the help of a good exit and DRS Vettel retakes the position
As Vettel goes by he squeezes Leclerc away from the racing line in order to make the corner more sharp for Leclerc. But in doing so they ever so slightly touch wheels which snap Leclerc's suspension and causes a puncture for Vettel
Both drivers held back at the interviews saying that they need to "have a look at the acident". The FIA penalised neither one of the drivers.
Crofty summarized the accident well: "I have to say, that is racing. And proper racing. We wanna see teammates go for it as well. And occasionally that happens."
It is a shame that fans complain when we see team orders but when teammates finally do battle it out and a very unlucky mistake like this happens fans make fun of the drivers and the team.
