Ferrari J50 - A 488 In a Manga Costume

Yes, I've been salivating over it too!

Waking up to the news of a surprise Ferrari unveiling is a joy akin to waking up to surprise a bit of hanky panky - apart from when you’re in prison, where the latter isn’t a joy; it’s a pain in the arse! (Not that I know!)

The Ferrari J50 is a special edition that’s been designed to celebrate 50 years of Ferrari in Japan. It’s based on the 488, which means it inherits its 3.9L Twin-Turbo V8; however in the J50, it’s pumping out another 20 horsepower, up to 681 rampaging turbo-stallions!

The extra power will result in a slight performance increase over the 488, which can get to 60mph in 3 seconds dead, and 125mph in a blinding 8.3! I feel however that it’s a shame the J50 is fast at all, because if you were to use the performance, you’d be denying onlookers the time they need to digest and appreciate this car’s exquisite details.

This is one of those cars where you have to spend time with it in pensive silence, drinking it in and savouring every last nuance, like it’s a fine wine. Every last part of it radiates pure specialness!

Ferrari’s have always had the power to turn the heads of pedestrians and turn other drivers into discourteous creatures who show no mercy in cutting you up whilst shaking their hand out their window to confirm what they think of you. With the J50 however, other road users won’t have time to call you a wanker; they’ll be too busy drooling and staring at it in awe.
