FIA tightens track limits on the Spa circuit
It will be possible to make a maximum of three exits from the circuit before being reported to the stewards
Practice for the Belgian Grand Prix begins today in Spa-Francorchamps and in many sections of the circuit the artificial grass has been replaced with a concrete cover. For this reason, the FIA has decided to tighten the sanctions against the drivers who leave the track during the race.
In particular, each runner will be allowed to exit the track for a maximum of three times in curves 4, 9 and 19 during the course of the race. At the fourth exit from the track a communication will be sent to the stewards who will evaluate any penalties.
An off track in these sectors during practice and qualifying will instead lead to the cancellation of the lap without further penalties. This type of provision could upset the outcome of a competition that promises to be very fought.
