Five cars I can't wait to see in 2019

There was so many, I spent all New Year's day thinking about it...

There are so many new and reinvented cars coming out this year, too many to count, even if it is on a list right under my nose - thank god for the internet. There was too many to make a list on here, so I picked the top five that I can't wait to see in the flesh and even get to play in. Some may surprise you, some won't.

    1. Peugeot 508 Fastback GT

Back in March 2018, I got to see and sit in one of the prototypes for the 508 Fastback, in the Peugeot store in Paris. Peugeots of recent years haven't been the best around and have lost the love of petrolheads, so maybe this car can be the biggest surprise of the year. Updated with luxury interiors and packed with technology, the new 508 looks like a saloon car that you can drive with style and comfort without breaking the bank. The 1.6L 225hp, Puretech petrol engine may only have 4 cylinders but seems to keep up with its BMW and Audi competitors. Maybe the French are coming back in style after all?

    2. The Audi R8

I was going to put the new 911 on this list, but I have always loved Porsches - and never liked Audis, at all. Then the new R8 popped up and when I was writing about it last year, I kinda fell hard for it, like really hard. The face-lift isn't just cosmetic, it contributes to better airflow for aerodynamics and performance, creating a better drive for everyone - fresh-faced or hardened veterans. The classic Audi R8 trait of a V10 with a bucket full of Horsepower still will fill 2019 with such wonderful sounds. Ah, what a sexy beast.

    3. BMW M8 Gran Coupe

Matt gold seems to be kicking rose gold off the top of the metal charts with the new M8 Gran Coupe - which instantly piqued my interest. The Salève Vert graduated paint job, combined with the matte gold accents strike a chord with my inner designer - never mind those angled highlights... oh, I need to lay down. I mean, look at those alloys wheels! It's not just here for looks though, as pretty much every M car ever made, it has sporting pedigree. It is clear from just looking at the body shape and lines throughout, that this is meant for luxury and performance.

    4. Morgan's new 'Widebody'

This is one is the weirdest on the list, as no photos are out - they have only given us a confirmation and a code name. This super secret Morgan will be out sometime in 2019, not to worry either, it won't replace any of the others. It is designed to sit somewhere in the middle of the plus 4 and the plus 8, giving us the chance to have more traditional styles with modern engineering. Here, have a photo of some other stunning Morgans for the moment. Enjoy.

    5. TVR Griffith

For a company, who doesn't even have it's factory up and running yet in Wales, is bold to say to us 'Here is the new Griffith!... out in 2019.' is about right for TVR. They have always been the nutters of the British car industry and haven't failed us again. The new TVR Griffith, which you can order right now, is a right beauty. Put down a deposit of £5000 and you can have the chance for your very own modern TVR - a Cosworth Ford 5.0L V8, a fancy new chassis formed from carbon fibre and just for those purist petrolheads, a manual gearbox. Let's just hope they can build that factory on time.

So, there you have it, my top picks for cars this year, that I can't wait to see. Oh, I am so pumped for 2019!

    • Went to Brussels Motor Show this weekend and I saw four of the five cars, Morgan wasn't represented. The new 508 is a splendid and beautiful car and I must say the design lines look like the former 504/505 model.
