For Sale: 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra FAM owned by Carroll Shelby and Paul Walker
FAM also stands for something rather rude...
Every so often, a car comes up with a famous owner in its logbooks which gets the car community talking. Well, this particular car has TWO famous prior owners, and they're pretty heavy-hitters: Caroll Shelby and Paul Walker.
Mecum Auctions
This car, a 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra FAM, was originally commissioned by none other than the legendary Mr Shelby himself back in the 1990's, as a tribute to his work with the Ford Motor Company to beat Ferrari in the 1964 24hrs of Le Mans. That acronym 'FAM' actually stands for 'Ferrari's ass is mine' no, really!
Mecum Auctions
The car is one of just 14 'CSX1000' examples of the 427 Cobra, and one of only TWO specially-built FAM models. Just to add an extra touch of irony, the combination of Rosso Corsa paintwork and tan interior is designed to mimick the most common Ferrari specification.

Under the hood sits a 550hp 427 V8 engine, coupled to a five-speed Tremec manual transmission. These special editions also benefitted from a 28-gallon stainless steel fuel tank, Aluminium diff housing, fully-independent suspension, upgraded brakes, and a fully-Aluminium body.
Inside, the car boasts unique FAM gauges and badging, custom carpet, and an S/C dash layout. There is also a set of Halibrand-style 15" wheels, and a polished Stainless Steel rollbar.

Interestingly, the listing doesn't say when Walker owned the vehicle or where he bought it from, but just the fact that he was a confirmed owner of the vehicle - alongside Carroll Shelby - should be enough to make this a hot item with Mecum Auctions.

Worth the money. The most 'Carroll Shelby' version of a Cobra you'll ever find.
