The Lamborghini Countach is a car that many would argue has the greatest poster appeal of any car, from any era, throughout all of automotive history. Excluding 3 different prototypes, 5 versions of the Countach were produced during the car's 16-year life. And what you're looking at here is the very first version of the Countach to ever be produced – the sacred LP400.

The LP400 has a number of distinguishing features that the Countach lost as it matured. The first one of those things is the sleekness of the exterior. Unlike all the other Countach variants that followed, the LP400 doesn't have flared wheel arches or a sticky-out bottom-lip to the front bumper. Some may like that sleekness; whereas other may prefer the aesthetic pizzazz of the later cars.

Something else that was unique to the LP400 was the width of the tyres. On the models that followed, the Countach utilised much wider tyres – 225mm at the front, and 345mm at the rear. In fact, the Countach held the record for the widest tyres ever fitted to a production car for many years thanks to its gargantuan rears. The LP400 however was simply fitted with much narrower 205mm radial tyres at all four corners.

Some say that the narrower tyres gave the LP400 a more effervescent feel through the corners – something which was helped by the car's lack of weight. Tipping the scales at just 2348lbs (1065kg), the LP400 was the lightest Countach ever put into production by quite some margin. In fact, as the Countach evolved through its 5 variants, it eventually become over half a tonne heavier than the original LP400.

Only 158 LP400s were made out of 2042 total Countach produced, which if you exclude the prototypes, makes it by far the rarest version. And this one you see here is currently for sale in Florida!

This 1976 example first got delivered to Canada before making its way down to Florida. Prior to being put on the market currently, it was put through a restoration of the highest possible standard. No stone was left unturned – the engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension, interior, exterior, air-conditioning, and so on – every nut and bolt was subject to the stringent restoration process.

The car has been inspected twice by Lamborghini expert Valentino Balboni, who gave the car extremely high praise. Hardly surprising really, because when you look at the stunning blue paint work with matching blue and white interior, anyone with the power of sight can see that this is an exceptional example.

So then, by now you'll all be wondering how much a car like this is going to set back the future owner – if that is you haven't already scrolled down to the bottom to see, which you probably have. Well, with just under 10,000 miles on the clock, you can expect to pay $1,095,000 for this Countach – which at the current exchange rate, is just under £780,000.

Don't expect there to be any wiggle room in that price either, because the current seller puts significant emphasis on the fact that the price is not open to negotiation under any circumstances. But if you've got the money, the sheer beauty of this example – No77 out of the 158 made – will be enough to make the thought of haggling not even enter your mind.
