Ford claims that an electric Mustang coupe is inevitable
To calm the fury caused by the questionable Mustang Mach-E, Ford says that another electric will arrive in the range and it will be a Mustang, a real one! The model will be based on the Mustang's coupé bodywork and will replace the internal combustion engine with an electric motor.
Ron Heiser, chief engineer of the Mustang Mach-E, admits that an electric Mustang will inevitably arrive in the future. This is a necessary step when the electric car market will be mature and developed with the right infrastructure. It remains to be seen when this day will come.
According to some rumours, this electric Mustang will be based on the chassis of the Mustang Mach-E, obviously modified to adapt it to the requirements of the coupé body. These assumptions make sense since the Mustang Mach-E uses a modular platform that can accommodate a variety of vehicles of different sizes and engine architecture.
This future electric Mustang would adopt some distinctive elements such as a closed grille or a more modern interior. If it were to be derived in a GT version, the future electric Mustang would provide supercar performance! Indeed, the Mustang Mach-E GT already does 0 to 62 mph in only 3 seconds!
