Ford dealer offers a 725bhp F150 for $39,995 with warranty
Remember the awesome Ohio-based Ford dealer that offered crazy-quick Mustangs for very little money a few weeks back? Well, it's back in the news, as it just extended this sweet-sweet offering to its F150 range.
The 'Lebanon Ford' dealer offers four separate performance packs offering between 650 and 725bhp, each starting at just $39,995; this equates to just $55 for every pony under the hood (for the 725hp pack). For comparison's sake the icon of lots of power on a budget the - Dodge Challenger Hellcat with its 707bhp and $65,495 price tag - manages just $92 per pony.
The four packs are split into three superchargers from Roush, Procharger and Whipple each with a warranty, and a Twin-Turbo system which sadly offers no warranty. Lebanon Ford proudly states that clients can choose the upgrade package regardless of the trim level they go for. Meaning you can shove big power into your bottom spec Regular Cab 2WD L-Sport or the Platinum Supercab. The price of course will grow depending on trim.
The Whipple Supercharger, the Super Pickup
The stock 5.0 Coyote V8 gives the F150 a respectable 395bhp. The Roush, Hellion and Procharger kits, bump that power up to a supercar rivalling 650bhp. However what we are all really interested in here, is the Whipple supercharger which gives you a slightly mental 725bhp.
Whipple manages that by mounting a huge 2.9-litre twin-screw supercharger with, it also adds new fuel system, air-intake, intercooler and a new tune for the engine and the 10-speed automatic. Moreover, it comes with a 3year/36,000-mile warranty and unlike the other options, it's fully compliant with the California Air Resources Board, meaning you can actually drive it there.
If 725bhp sounds like too much...
You can always opt for the Roush or Procharger kits, each of them comes with... well the supercharger, new fuel feeding bits, air-intake, intercooler and a new tune. Where they differ is the style - while the Roush pack is more subtle and performance focused, the Procharger comes with a P1X head unit and an optional 'Big Red Blow-Off Valve' which is said to give 'some of the best supercharger noises around'.
Roush comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, Procharger offers the same warranty period but will charge you an extra $995 for the privilege.
HELLION STREET SLEEPER
If superchargers don't tickle your fancy, this stealth oriented twin-turbo set-up is your best friend for big power in an F150. With two Borg Warner 57mm turbos hidden deep in the engine bay, it bumps the power up to 650bhp without raising any eyebrows. According to Lebanon Ford, 'virtually every part of this system is uniquely designed in a way to hide it from the untrained eye.' Streetcars beware, egos will be hurt, bets will be lost.'
If 650bhp doesn't sound like enough to you, ask Hellion about their options to run E85 race-fuel for that extra bit of power, just in case you feel like chasing something like a Ferrari 488 or similar. The Twin-Turbo kit will cost $4,000, extra ,and comes with no warranty.
