This Mk2 Escort has been recommissioned by the team and will be auctioned at a guide price of £35,000 to £40,000

Earlier this year, Richard Hammond and the team at 'The Smallest Cog' took this Ford Escort to the London Classic Car Show before it started its recommissioning. After lengthy restoration, it is now on offer on Classic Car Auctions' website. The auction will take place on the 25th of September at Stoneleigh Park, Hall 1. Viewing will be available in person from the 22nd as well as on the morning before.

After the car's extensive refurbishment, the car appears to have been brought up to a factory fresh standard. The car car scored full marks on the interior and achieved an overall score of 113/135 which is impressive for a car which is over 40 years old. More recently, since its time with the team, it has made appearances in places such as the Hampton Court Concours D'Elegance where it received many positive comments. Bidding will be available in person or online by clicking here. The car will be lot 562. The series where you will be able to see the work put into the car will be airing later this year on discovery+ UK.

  • That looks stunning, brilliant job they have done, and should easily fetch upwards of £35,000.
