Ford to release a Four-door Mustang to rival Audi and Porsche

6w ago

Earlier this month at a dealer event in North America Ford reportedly revealed that it will create a four-door Mustang that will rival the Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera.

It is likely that if true, the car would be a lengthened meaty looking GT with a nice big V8 up front. Of course in this day and age with car makers trying to be more economical by heading down the electric route, it’s difficult to say whether Ford would stick with the V8 or go for a more hybrid build or even fully electric instead.

Unfortunately for us, any more information that was disclosed at this event has been protected by non-disclosure agreements.

Many car makers have had a go at toppling the German reign, most if not all have failed. But could a four-door Ford Mustang be exactly what it takes?

  • Before the Mustang there was the Thunderbird. When the 'Stang came out Ford was forced to rethink the Thunderbirds place in the line-up. The Thunderbird got 4-doors in '67. Now because of SUVs and Crossovers, Ford has had to rethink the Mustang. I'll grant you that for some strange reason peoples perception of 4-door cars has changed in the last 15 years, but I'm pretty sure the Mustang is still destined to go the same way the Thunderbird did.

  • I have said the same thing about the mid engined corvette. It looks amazing and will probably be amazing, but if you want to make it call it something different.
