Ford vs. Ferrari (Le Mans 1966)
On the occasion of the new Hollywood blockbuster "Ford v Ferrari" we already got some model highlights presented. I have fallen for the fascination of Le Mans as well as for the legendary Ford GT40 - more precisely, the GT40 MKII.
To my collection belongs since some time also this GT40 with the starting number 7 in scale 1/18 from Shelby Collectibles. The number 7 car was used by the Alan Mann Racing Ltd team at the 24H Le Mans race. The two pilots Graham Hill and Brian Muir could reach a 36th place.
The workmanship and the detailing of the model are on a very high level. I particularly like the silver/matt black finish of this model. The paint gives the vehicle a rather simple and timeless look. The beautifully detailed wheels are also a real eye-catcher. The wheels are generously dimensioned and fit perfectly into the overall picture.
The replica of the mighty 7 litre V8 engine is perfectly realized. The spare wheel, accessible via the flap, is also a nice gimmick.
If you now also consider that the model is available for 70 Euro, the price/performance ratio is unbeatable.
