Ford's 'Bronco Riptide Project' is the perfect vehicle for surfers
I want one. Badly
The Ford Bronco is a proper off-roader but let’s face it, it is also - when all is said and done - a ‘lifestyle’ vehicle, which is why [most] customers buy it. Ford has upped the ante with a brand new version called the ‘Riptide’, and it looks like it may have been specifically designed with surf lovers in mind.
You can take the roof off and there are no doors (replaced with tubular doors), there’s also a surfboard rack and boards above, and to top it all off, it‘s painted in Velocity Blue. Presumably so that it looks cool against an oceanic backdrop.
The interior is upholstered in marine-grade Black Onyx+Dark Space Gray vinyl and the floor is covered in layers of rubber, which means you can wash it and it won‘t be damaged by salty water either.
It’s based on the 2021 Bronco four-door with the Sasquatch Package, equipped with 35-inch mud-terrain tires and 17-inch factory wheels. In order to make sure it can cope with sand, mud and rocks, it can also be fitted with Dana AdvanTEK electronic-locking front and rear axles, and a high-clearance suspension system with Bilstein shock absorbers.
The engine is a 2.7 L EcoBoost, sending 330 hp to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic. Not that anyone cares, I presume, because the Riptide is designed to cruise at 35 mph along the PCH.
