FORGET THE BMW, WHY NOT RISK IT IN A DYING FIESTA???

The idea of flying through France, down to the Riviera and exploring the southern coast in a lovely E46 320CI does appeal to me, but recently, I've been dabbling with the notion of doing it in my hard working 1.25 Ford Fiesta. Right, I know this thing is a bit of a pig, first to second gear change is violent, its been playing up. The vibration due to the left front being at a different angle from the right makes it horrendous and the fact that I dont really fit in the bastard really does make it a challenge! But thats what I want for this, right?

Regardless of the fact of the numerous faults I can pick out and complain about, I dont need to, this little work horse has pulled out of its bag everything asked of it, so why not ask it one more favour, take me to Nice. Shouldn't be to much of a challenge for it, its done Milton Keynes to Holyhead and back in one day, so im sure it can do Milton Keynes to Nice and back too. Admittedly, I will miss out on many of the creature comforts im used to. I'll have no cruise control, no air conditioning, no working USB adapter, no cooling seats, no bluetooth connectivity. to be honest, it'll be an empty car, but a car full of character.

The other factor is speed, yes I've driven the poor thing to within an inch of its life, yes I've pushed the car over 110mph (wont say where haha (M6 toll, its great)) but that was for short period of time, could it deal with 90-100mph for over 100 miles at a time? this is definitely one of my worries, imagine the pain of my poor fiesta overheating at 3 in the morning in the middle of France, no thank you! can my fiesta hack constant high speeds only to cool down momentarily at french toll booths? soon to be found out i guess....

4 up in the little hatchback should also provide the amusement, little should i worry about the speed really, i doubt the bugger will be able to get up to 80, let alone 100! with the additional weight of passengers and kit, the car will have a test on suspension, breaks and power. Im more looking forward to these french alpine roads in the alps, the weight transfer will be hilarious and scary, but why not, this is the poor things send off!

Now why have I decided to do this, why push the already dying car to its limit, why not just buy the 320CI and have an easy trip? well this is my send off to my first ever mechanical companion, the little shit has became more of a friend than a machine, so i can't scrap him on account of an upgrade. this is my send off, paying my thanks and respect to the little thing. I've ragged him, I've kicked him, hell I've even kissed him, always been there! so why not take him on the last and best trip of his life before he has to be put down? This is my send off and I want to share it with you, lets see how it goes then haha! Enjoy my pain, potential triumph, respect and love for my fiesta, he's been a hell of a friend!!!
