The clock is ticking for Forza Horizon 2 on the Microsoft Store, so get it free while you still can. Or live in regret for all eternity (possibly).

Forza Horizon 2 being given away for free appeared to signal the fact it was soon going to be removed from the Microsoft Store. And now the news has been confirmed in an official capacity.

Speaking in a Forza Week In Review video, community manager Brian Ekberg stated that Forza Horizon 2 will be delisted on the 1st of October, 2018. This mirrors what has gone before, with the original Forza Horizon removed shortly after being offered as a freebie.

Given the four-year period for both the first and second game, licensing is likely to be the cause of the removal. Because unfortunately it costs money to use logos, songs and so fourth, which would be fine if the game was popular. But Horizon 2 is a little long in the tooth now.

It could, of course, also be to do with the fact that giving away an old Forza Horizon game helps create a buzz around a new Forza Horizon game. This time, it's the fourth in the series, which launches in late September or early October, depending on the version you buy.

Luckily, Forza Horizon 2 is available to download for free until the end of August, 2018. Download it and the DLC content now and it will be available to redownload after the 1st of October cut-off. For those who don't, you will have to buy a physical copy.

With the release of Forza Horizon 4 getting tantalisingly close, we thought it was time to round-up what we know so far, which you can read here.
