Kush Maini started Round 9 in 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup finishing sixth and eighth in the two practice sessions in his #41 M2 Competition car at Hockenheim in Germany. The Indian looked good in the sessions as he then qualifying eighth for Race 1 in Qualifying 1.

He was 11th in Qualifying 2 for Race 2 on Sunday. The first race on Saturday started well for Maini as he climbed up to sixth already after a solid move in the Stadium section. He steadied on but made a mistake in the last few laps where he lost a place to his rival.

He eventually settled for seventh overall and was the third best rookie. The second race on Sunday started under treacherous conditions at Hockenheim with safety car playing spoilsport multiple times. By halfway stage, he was already up to 11th despite lack of non-SC laps.

In the laps that followed, he was up to fifth and eventually gained another place to be fourth after a mistake from his rival to register his best result since the first round at Monza. He ended up the second best rookie behind the 2019 champion Caio Collet.

For the Hockenheim weekend, Maini had Toro Rosso F1 eSports racer Cem Bolukbasi as his teammate. With Round 9 done and dusted, the JK Tyre Motorsport-backed driver has 94 points to be sixth in the overall drivers' standings with just one to go in the 2019 season.
