French GT4: Rabindra/Vannelet has lone Top 10 finish at Albi in Race 1
The team had a mixed run in the penultimate round with the sole Top 10 finish.
Akhil Rabindra continued his French GT4 Championship campaign with AGS Events Racing abode the #69 Aston Martin Vantage AMR in Round 4 of the 2020 season at Circuit Albi in France, in the Pro-Am category with teammate Gilles Vannelet.
Starting the penultimate weekend, the duo ended up 23rd and 26th overall in the two practice sessions, while they were 13th and 14th in the Pro-Am class - it being the first time for Rabindra at the Albi circuit in France. The Qualifying 1 was much better for them.
Vannelet with a time of 1m24.129s was eighth overall and fifth in class, while Rabindra ended up 19th overall and 12th in Pro-Am in Qualifying 2 with a 1m23.977s lap. The Race 1 on Saturday saw a fighting from the Indo-French duo as they were 14th overall and seventh in class.
But Race 2 didn't as per the plans as he did not make much ground at the start of the race. They dropped back, in fact, as multiple safety cars did not allow them to regain places. At the end they were 16th when SC came in with one lap to go but they ended up 19th overall.
They were 11th in Pro-Am as they sit ninth in the drivers' standings with 49 points, with one round remaining. The team, though, is second in the teams' standings with 160 points courtesy of the sister #89 car's consistent run.
The duo had a chance to score a podium in Race 2 but not to be.
