French GT4: Rabindra/Vannelet secure triple Top 10 Pro-Am result in Rd 3
The duo had a chance to score a podium in Race 2 but not to be.
Akhil Rabindra continued his French GT4 Championship campaign with AGS Events Racing abode the #69 Aston Martin Vantage AMR in Round 3 of the 2020 season at Paul Ricard in France, in the Pro-Am category with teammate Gilles Vannelet.
The duo started the weekend finishing 22nd overall and 12th in Pro-Am category in FP1 as Qualifying 1 saw Vannelet end up eighth overall and third in class for Race 1, while Qualifying 2 had Rabindra in 17th overall and 11th in class - the duo's laps were separated by only 0.065s.
It was a good start from the pair in Race 1, where they avoided any clashes but a drive-through penalty late in the race hampered their finishing position, as they eventually finished 15th overall and were eighth in the Pro-Am class.
The Race 2 saw the duo run just outside the Top 10 in the initial stages. However, they made it gradually inside it despite a slower stop due to tyre pressure issues. It was a big fight for positions in the latter half of the race as they ended up ninth overall and fifth in class.
They were only 0.571s behind the eighth placed finisher. The Race 3 saw them start well in the Top 3 but they started to lose out to drop outside the Top 10 by midway into the race. The second half saw them remain static in 10th where they finished overall.
They were sixth in Pro-Am class as after three rounds, AGS Racing Events sit second in the Pro-Am championship with 142 points, while in the drivers' standings, they are eighth with 43 in a close fight. They have two rounds to go still to keep their Top 10 position.
The Indo-French registered their best Pro-Am result in Race 1 of Round 2.
