From racing sim to WTCR Champion
Dreams come true: from racing sim to WTCR Champion!
Hungarian driver Norbert Michelisz won the 2019 WTCR World Touring Car Cup title
Michelisz was 17 years old when he started playing a racing simulator called Grand Prix Legends (GPL). He got the idea in his head that no matter how much practice it takes he will beat the first GPL world champion Gábor Wéber. Gábor was racing at the Zengő Motorsport at that time in WTCC.
Wéber recognized the talent and convinced Zoltán Zengő to give a chance and a real racecar to Michelisz. First he was racing a 100 BHP Opel Astra, then a 180 BHP Renault Clio. His results was enough to convince Zengő to work with him in the future. While racing with Zengő Motorsport which is a private racing team, Michelisz always had to watch out for the racecar, because a crash could meant the end of the current season.
