For the tenth installment of the FI Podcast, we've got a diehard BMW fan that goes by the name Bunga Bunga Stig here to tell us why he thinks BMW has lost their way recently and to answer a few conventional interview questions. As usual, a link to the video portion of the interview will be down below. Without further ado, let's begin!
Where are you from?
I am from Westchester County in New York. However, I currently reside in Ithaca, NY.
What made you a petrolhead?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve just always loved cars. My neighbor’s dad had a big part in making me one, with his E39 540i, 1999 Jaguar XJR, and his 2009 Cayenne S with a six speed manual transmission, all of which he let me mess about with. And of course seeing a brand new silver E60 M5 for the first time as a five year old on the bus. But hearing it probably did a better job.
What made you decide to come back to DriveTribe after your hiatus?
Frankly, it’s because I needed advice. I’ve been shopping for cars for a while, but my financial situation keeps changing, which is what’s been taking so long.
What made you consider a Chevrolet Tahoe as your first car?
Snow. There is a HUGE amount of it where I currently live, and I also live at the top of a hill, which makes a 4x4 off-road capable SUV seem very appealing. Plus, after talking with (Jake) Savoie about the reliability of the 5.3 V8 (which according to him is quite good), I felt confident that the truck would last a very long time. Even an idiot like me would likely have a hard time killing it.
Did you need some new trousers after blowing a spark plug in your friend’s modded GT86?
Well, yes. It turns out that I was wrong about the spark plug. One of the cross-rods (a known weak point on the FA20 engine) shot through the engine. Basically, my friend is going to need an entirely new engine. It was bad.
