Future classics?

- My money is on the E82 135i with the twin turbo N55 engine. What do you predict?

How difficult is it to spot a future classic?

  • Rivan I'm so with you on that one. I think I need to get my hands on one of those. ASAP.

  • Gabriel you brought up an interesting choice there. A hybrid electric as a classic. That sort of sound like meatballs and ice cream but I see where you going.

  • The BMW M135i/M140i will definitely be future classics as the last rear-wheel driven hot hatches.

  • I'm also rooting for the BMW i8 but I'm also inclined to consider the BMW M4 GTS a future classic alongside the BMW M2.

  • I think the last NA BMW straight 6 engined cars are really under valued right now and may pick up in the future where it's character will out weighs it's performance figures. Also on the naturally aspirated bus; the VR6 derived VW/Audi models. Be it in the 2.8/ 2.9/ 3.2/ 3.6 variations found in anything from a mk2 Golf to a Porsche Cayenne; there's some character in they way they sound that and perform that seems to be increasingly different from the direction modern turbo charged VWs are going. I'd say a TT 3.2v6 will be a lot more desirable in time to come. Right now it's seen as slow and heavy on fuel, I think that's missing the point.
