3. The Electrified G80 should go on sale in the U.S by the end of 2021.
Genesis has unveiled the Electrified G80 sedan, an EV version of the G80, in what's a first for the brand. The automaker's first EV doesn't change too much in terms of styling, but adds an abundance of unique systems such as Vehicle-to-Load, ANC-R, and Pre-view ECS (more on all that later). Additionally, being an electric vehicle, the brand has outfitted it with sustainable materials inside and a tweaked crest grille. The Electrified G80 is expected to go on sale in the U.S by the end of 2021.
The most important part of the Electrified G80 is its powertrain, which puts out 365 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, according to the auto manufacturer. This power is delivered to all four wheels as standard, but the vehicle can switch seamlessly between 2WD and AWD to increase efficiency. Range is 310 miles (500 km) based on the NEDC standard, and 265 miles (427 km) on the Korean system. All electric G80 models will benefit from fast-charging capability as standard, a system the automaker says can charge the vehicle from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes.
Allowing for the most comfortable experience possible is the Electrified G80's plethora of ride-enhancing features. These include ANC-R (Active Noise Control-Road), a system that creates opposite phases based on noise it captures from sensors and microphones, and Pre-view ECS (Preview Electronic Control Suspension). The latter optimizes ride quality by analyzing the road via the car's cameras and navigation system.
Electric vehicles often have unique features that can't be fitted in traditional gasoline vehicles. Genesis really took advantage of this with the Electrified G80: First, they equipped V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) that supplies 3.6 kWh of power, more than the average household uses, a great feature for hooking up an electric grille or...Exercise bike. Second, they integrated a solar element into the roofline to increase efficiency and conserve energy. Inside, the Electrified G80 differs greatly from its gasoline sibling, with sustainable materials outlining the better part of its interior.
Two exclusive colors, Matira Blue (exterior), and Dark Green Two-tone (interior), will be obtainable when the Electrified G80 goes on sale by the end of 2021 (not confirmed). Pricing has yet to be released, and more details will be provided as it gets closer to an on sale date.
