Getting Caught in the rain with a Porsche 918 Spyder
Well today was not the day to have the roof off
The Porsche 918 Spyder will forever be one of the most technologically advanced cars that has ever been thrown on the track and swung around curvy roads. It used a petrol engine along with two electric motors, one on each axle. Porsche worked tirelessly to get the hybrid powertain and petrol engine to work together in harmony. And they excelled at that goal. And before you ask. Yes the 918 is my favorite of the holy trinity.
Unlike most Porsche's, mainly the 911 having a flat-6, the 918 Spyder has a naturally aspirated 4.6 L, flat-plane crankshaft V-8 with dual overhead camshafts. Being naturally aspirated was a far better option as it offers for a better soundtrack and turbochargers would require more cooling equipment, which would make the car heavier and far to complex. With the two electric motors, one on each axle and the amazing V-8, the 918 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.2 seconds making it the quickest production car ever.
In the interior you have acid green accents and special logos and details. A large center screen welcomes you with digital and analog buttons and controls. The bucket seats are more comfortable than the Mclaren P1, but still hold you in tight when swaying around corners. There are carbon fiber and aluminum materials all around the interior. Just the interior itself is very technological and it is a great place to be. I mention the acid green accents again because of how fantastic they look. Great interior that makes you feel ready to push the pedal to the metal.
Some may argue that the Mclaren P1 and Laferrari are more beautiful than the 918 spyder. I disagree. The 918 has very smooth lines all around the car. From front to rear. The headlights are simple and there are not any unnecessary aero components. Just a beautiful shining yellow paint job and carbon fiber details. The design of the rear is fantastic. You have these awesome top mounted exhausts with long outlets that stretch down. Everything is vented and it looks unlike anything else you have seen on a car. The design of the whole car feels very technological and it is absolutely bespoke. On the rear you get a large diffuser, but still have smooth curves and even the vents are designed with passion. You can also see the "918 Spyder" logo is acid green. On the side of the car it says "E-Hybrid" in acid green as well. Even the break calipers are acid green. I love this color, I just have to say it.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is my favorite hypercar of all time. Better than any Koenigessg, Mclaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti or anything. It is using the latest technology to save the performance car for tomorrow. Two electric motors and a naturally aspirated V-8 make for an amazing experience of soundtrack, speed, acceleration and all out driving fun. Thanks for reading and if you enjoyed don't forget to bump and follow for more.
