Go behind the scenes with Carvana and their 360-degree photo booth
Cavana will give us a sneak peak March 7th on Instagram Live

Carvana will be giving their Instagram followers a sneak peak behind the scenes of how their 360-degree photo booth works. On March 7th at 5:30pm EST, Carvana will jump on IG Live to show us how it all works. I took some screen grabs from their teaser video on Facebook, and it gets the photo-nerd part of my brain all excited. There's a section of the half-sphere photo booth that opens to drive the cars in. A turntable rests in the middle which allows for full rotation of the car without an infinite number of 3-point turns, or for the camera to move and reset after every snap.

The lower, dark grey boarder actually stops about two or three feet from the wall, which is where all of the lighting gets hidden from view. This lets all that glorious light bounce off the white, rounded ceiling with no harsh glare getting cast on the car. All this "incredible photo technology" as they call it, allows Carvana to present their cars online with fancy 360-degree rotation, rather than your typical slide show to click through. Bottom line: I'm going to be watching and taking notes so I can build a 1/18 scale version of this thing for my diecasts!

I’m definitely going to build a smaller scale one as well so I can take better pictures for Live and Let Diecast!
I think you can buy some sort of pop up "egg" that you can shoot inside of. Get a similar effect at least!
I'm going to have to re-imagine my set up after I move. I've got some ideas...
Do it! You should document it too.
I want to change some things up too, but without taking up more space somehow lol. I already have a compact shooting set up :/
